The Phyllis M Klein
The Warwick Valley Quilters’ Guild is a non-profit membership organization that promotes quilting arts in Warwick and the surrounding areas. We support the study and educational and non-profit pursuits that involve quilting or other needle arts with our Phyllis Klein Scholarship Fund. Monies for the Fund are raised directly from the quilt we raffle off at our biennial Quilt Show.
The Fund is named for our founder, Phyllis M. Klein who passed away in 2009. She was an avid quilter, artist, writer and editor, and well known in the quilting world as an accomplished teacher. She founded our guild along with several charter members in 1982.
The Guild is pleased to share its resources with students, educational institutions and non-profit volunteer organizations in communities throughout Orange County and Northern New Jersey to support and promote quilting, sewing, textiles, needle arts, and design. A variety of scholarship assistance is available from the Guild. High School seniors or college students who are pursuing a degree in a quilting-related field are encouraged to apply for scholarships that can help offset the cost of materials or books required for their classes. Teachers who conduct classes or sponsor/advise groups that teach quilting or sewing can apply for funds to help purchase materials or equipment for those classes and groups. Non-profit groups can receive money to help pay for materials for the quilting projects they conduct to help others.
The deadline for application for the 2013 Scholarships will be announced soon. For application information, please request guidelines and an Application Form from the Guild at: Warwick Valley Quilters’ Guild, PO Box 23, Warwick NY 10990. Forms will also be downloadable on this site/page.
